Art is not dead!. You are thinking about only one school of art, and I agree with you that there is much that is called art that doesn't seem very artistic!. My husband is a fine artist and he draws the most amazing pictures, but lately he's been working as a web developer, so he's not drawing !.!.!. there is 'art' in the work he does, though !.!.!. it's not all his, and it may not seem 'creative' but he can work wonders in a very short time with 'I need a video !.!.!.' and that video, done in two days, wins the contract!. No, art is not dead, though what I think that the type of art that you might like the most is in the past, or on the periphery of the mainstream of contemporary art!. Creativity is vibrant throughout the mainstream of art and it's margins!. Remember that "creativity" is simply to recombine parts of the past into something new for today!.

Art changes through the ages, and this is especially so through Modernism and Post-Modernism!. One thing that has not changed much throughout the last 125 years or so is that contemporary art, in it's time, tends to be lost on the general public, but widely appreciated later!. For example, in their era, impressionists and post-impressionists such as Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh were only appreciated by a small number of intellectuals and art affeccionados but detested and scoffed at by the general public!. However, decades later they are enjoyed by everyone, and liking them in 2008 is even considered of a conservative taste!. Pretty much the same story for Picasso, Miro et al!. In less than one hundred years Joseph Beuys retrospectives will be enjoyed by flocks of old ladies and schoolchildren!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
