The definition of 'Antique' varies from source to source, product to product and year to year!. But, some time-tested definitions of antique deserve consideration:

yes, silver jewelry box of 1912 would be an antique, even items 25 years old could be antique, possibly anything that can no longer be made by original companies, or that no longer exist,

The official labeling of something as antique is at least 100 years old!.
As far as appraisals(value) go this is when it is most important!.
A antique store doesn't have to have all things over a hundred years, it's more of a quaint way of saying secondhand or junk store!.
That doesn't mean your box isn't valuable, that is more about quality, condition, maker, rarity, and demand for the object!.
Some things fluctuate from year to year or decade to decade!. Something worth $1000 today might be worth $5000 in 3 years if more people are looking for it , or it could decrease in value!.
