Question: We are having a family pic made and the background is dark blue/black marble like, what colors should we wear!?

I NEED HELP WITH WHAT COLORS ME, MY HUSBAND AND 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER SHOULD WEAR!!!! h LAST YEAR THE PIC WAS NOT GOOD AND WE WORE OLIVE GREEN AND NAVY BLUE!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When considering what clothes to wear, remember that the color pallet for a successful family portrait really depends much on the chosen background, skin tones and hair color!.

If the background is very dark, such as dark blue/black, then it will have a tendency to draw forward dark undertones, such as dark lines created by eye liner, wrinkles, shadows, and heavy eyebrows!. Wearing earthy tones may make the subjects look lifeless or uncomfortably formal and militaristic (especially on olive skin)!.

The natural compliment of blue is orange!. If the skin tones are dark or well tanned, a fresh orange color will also bring out a healthy glow in the skin!.

If the skin tones are fair, the contrast may be very strong against a dark background; to soften the portrait, a lighter hue of blue will help will create a pleasant composition, especially coupled with blonde or light brown hair!. Another great option is a rich green color for blond hair, which will definately give a balanced and sporty feel!.

Rubicund skin (reddish skin or blushed) may look akward against a dark blue/black background!. An analogous harmony of a deep purple or a dark velvet will help subdue unwanted reddishness, and give a nice touch of sophistication!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
