Question: What are the largest dimensions I can print a photo taken with a 4!.1 megapixel camera to!?

That depends on the resolution with which you took the picture!. If you took the picture at maximum resolution, 8 x 10 should be fine and 11 x 16 is possible, especially if it will be on a wall in a frame and people will be standing a few feet for it!. You will have to try it and see!.

By the way, we have stopped printing our own pictures because Costco does it so much better and cheaper!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was able to print 8 x 10 from a 3 MP camera!. Then I tried 11 x 14 inch with a 4 MP camera!.

The real answer is that it depends on how far away the picture is going to be viewed from!. Obviously, a billboard isn't printed with the same resolution as a magazine ad!.

One rule-of-thumb is that 200-300 pixels per inch is a good resolution for photos that'll be held in the hand!. You'll get acceptable results down to 100 PPI, depending on how critically someone's looking at the picture!.

At 200 PPI, you could print a 4 Mpixel image at about 9x11 inches!. If you're willing to go down to 100 PPI, you can print at 16x20!. Of course, you won't be holding a 16x20 picture in your hand, in any case!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
