Question:Im working on a painting.. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or know of any sites that can help me paint wood- not paint ON wood- im working on canvas with acrylic... for example,in my painting I am painting a wall that has wood paneling. any ideas?

Start with the general brown area and paint various broken and dotted lines for the grain. Various widths, and not just straight, maybe even a knot hole. If you take a fairly wide brown marker and draw lines that overlap length-wise, you'll get what I mean.

you can try finding a thin piece of bark and cut that to the size that you need. then cut it to size and paste it onto your surface. that way you will get that natural wood grain and it will be the easiest way to create the effect that you are looking for.
