Yeah. He's nothing special.

i'm on the fence. i like some of his things. but noticed that in stores they only have touches of oil paint to accent a printed work on canvas.

mass produced is kinda cheating when it comes to an artist i think.

he's very commercial. it's like new kids on the block at their peak... shirts lunch boxes watches... he's getting like that- watches, clocks, blankets.

overrated- yes. Talented, yes. I am not into his kind of art but it is done technically well. I also don't like mass production in art.

Personally I think Thomas Kindade has a lot of talent and he really can capture light beautifully, but I think there are many artists out there that are better than him, that are credited.

Yes. He's good at what he does but I think he's more interested in money.
I've seen him endorse some pretty tacky
renditions of his work,(paint by numbers, mini-plaster sculptors).
He's art for the masses, he doesn't cause controversy and your grandma will like him too.

Oh yes!!! The only people who buy his crap are rich people who don't know the first thing about art or painting.

To call him overrated is truly an understatement. He's a skilled but talentless hack who's business is to turn out decorative schlock at an industrial rate and then call it 'art'. It gives actual art a bad name. It is the lowest common denominator.

yes kincaid is definitely overrated. its not his technique that is lacking, its the substance of his paintings that are mundane. he is very formulaic in his paintings. he puts a little cottage here, a stream there maybe some rocks and there you go its a kincaid. his popularity has grown due to the fact that his paintings are marketed well and target a certain audience. really the only people who buy kincaids are those who know little to nothing about art and would just like to have a pleasing painting in thier house. paintings like kincaid are numerous and you can usually find them in bank or hotel lobbies or lining the walls of hospitals.

He is overrated. No doubt, he's caught on with his nostalgic art from the USA of yesteryear. He is a good artist, competent at what he does. But is his art meaningful in the best sense of fine art and/or serious art? Is there anything there beyond sentimentality? Probably not. It's a theme and a scheme designed to sell.
He is a talented artist. But his super-talent is commercial self-promotion.

i admire his work but at the same time he is like a dime store art vendor
