I don't know anyone who uses zip drives anymore. I think they must have meant a flash drize.

A zip drive is a drive that uses a disc. Like a floppy disk but holds much more information (about 100mb) However they have become dated. If she meant a zip you would need the discs and the drive itself.

The first picture you call a zipdrive, is a flash drive, it does say it on the package.

A flash drive is a device that has it's own memory and you can get them to contain from anywhere from 256mb -4gigs. This plugs directly into a usb port.

Regardless of what she said go for the flash drive, it's more portable and more accepted. (look under where it says USB)

The image of the Lexar is NOT a Zip drive. It is a kind of flash (or solid state) memory card.

Look at the "related" images to the right on that link. THOSE are Zip drives. Zip drives are a relatively oblsolet technology, created by Iomega. They are more like the old type floppy discs, but with a LOT more space available. Where a 3.5 inch floppy could hold about 1.4 megs, a Zip drive cartridge could hold about 100 megs. Compare to some flash cards that can hold from one to several gigs.

I know some people that refer to the USB portable storage units as Zip drives, but these use permanently built in flash storage cards.
