i do like annafur's idea...
i'd incorporate a clock (grandfather clock/chrysalis morph)
bearded butterfly carrying a scythe toward a caterpillar (indicating change. afterall, death is merely another change).
interesting question, and definitely worth some thought.

Put Britney Spears' head on the butterfly.

put it upside down and make the chrysalis into like a clock or something, signifying the times of change, then make the butterfly into something fun too, like a flower or something.

I am an artist, I love this stuff.

I would probably have the butterfly giving birth to the chrysalis. That would be surreal...

I would have the butterfly hanging in outer space , and it would be overlooking the whole earth , and around the earth there would be butterflies flying freely around the earth , with stars on their wings glowing brightly , the earth would be held by a fairy-type of person , with silver hair ,and in her hair she would have blue flowers growing in her hair , and some of the butterflies would be on her hair ..

Maybe have the butterfly splitting open and a crysalis emerging... or the butterfly standing there upright like a human with wings drooping and dripping wet like it'd just been dunked in water and the crysalis skin laying in a heap next to it made from a rubbery 'wetsuit' type material and a zipper down the back of it.

edit: wow I just read annafur's answer! Now THAT's surreal! I feel an idea for a new novel coming on....
