Position:Home>Visual Arts> Can someone please check out my photographs?

Question:I'm looking for honest answers only. I'm a humble novice looking to expand my photography skills hopefully into a business. But if there's not a foundation to build on...then I'll move on.

I'm still adding photos and trying to figure out this website.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time!

Your photos are not bad at all. I liked your subject matter. Some could use a little post processing to give them more pop. Most of your compositions were static and too centered. As a novice I'd say you have a nice start, but need more direction in order to grow. Take a class if you can. Get some books on beginning photography and composition. "Understanding Exposure", by Bryan Peterson is very useful.

The tone of your question is a bit odd. Most photographers are in the business basically because they love the craft of making images. If you have the desire to do photography, then the skill can be learned, through schooling (recommended) or even on your own if you're dedicated and have self-discipline. Every professional photographer started with the same foundation, that is, none. As a beginner, it is unreasonable to expect marketable skill right off the bat. You are building your knowledge and skill, a process which will continue for a lifetime. You will have to decide for yourself if and when it is time to "move on". But at this point, you haven't given yourself enough time. As a sidenote, I wouldn't use the mixed bag of folks who use Yahoo Answers to determine if you have talent or not. Much better to get real feedback from real people that you know are qualified. Best wishes!

So far so good. I think there is definitely foundation. I especially like the Chained Ice photo. Good luck and keep shootin'!

You have some real talent.

You should 'watch' me!

wow! you definitely have talent! i say go for it!!

you take really good photographs

You have some really nice images, and have visited some great places. One suggestion is to try more varied compositions. Don't place the subject in the center quite so much. Keep it up.
