Question:Basically, my art homework is to draw myself three times in the styles of three different artists. Does anybody know of any interesting artists who have done portraits in a really interresting and relatively easy to recreate way? Thanks

It's probably easier if you look at the famous artists who have done self portraits, I'd include:
Rembrandt
Frida Kahlo
Kathe Kollwitz
Gwen John
Van Gogh
Probably though if you just do a Google image search for 'self portrait' lots will come up.

picasa

These are some of my favorite artists

Andy warhol
M. C. Escher
René Fran?ois Ghislain Magritte

look at Picasso, Paul Klee, Chagall, Paula rega, burne Jones, mattise, van gogh, Lichtenstein, Lucien Freud, why would you want it easy ? no artist gets things easy.but finding it interesting now that takes a little looking.!

Open an Art History text book...haveyou donethat? ;-P Smile.
Look for portraits.
Pick three artists with distinctly different styles.
It helps if you like the work!

Picasso's blue period is a good one.

Enjoy! try to get into it. Change cloths, look in the mirror, use photo's of yourself, put on a wig. Explore!

Schultz (Charlie Brown and co.)

Frank Auerback was famous for his portraits. Read on his process before you start anything, it's not all in the final product.
Vincent Van Gogh.
Rembrandt van Rijn - but as the master of psychological insight, that will be tricky. You might just use a 'found object' for this one, a photograph that represents you as you see yourself.

Hannah,I was thinking about famous Fine Artists but why not try Walt Disney,Matt Groenig or any of the Manga artists.Don't let your Art be a chore, enjoy it and post your results on line for all of us .

check out vincent Van Gogh, Picasso and Wassily kandinsky. they are all fun good luck.

I really don't believe in doing homework for students. But sometimes they need pointing in the right direction. There is an excellent book which I point my students towards for self portraits and different styles. '500 five hundred self portraits' intro by Julian Bell. Published by Phaidon Press 2000. ISBN 0 7148 3959 0. Shows a very wide range of techniques and styles.
Hope this helps!
