Do a wash for the back ground in a cream then sponge a rich copper/bronze behind the rose that that fades out toward the edges.

Now you have a setting and can go with any color you like. Purity-white roses: add bright white on the outer edge of the flower and a touch of pink at the center/base of the petals and blend. Love- Dark red roses: Lighten the color at the base of petals and in the center with yellow or pink or go for a deeper red almost black at the base. Friendship-yellow roses: again add a color at the base of petals and center maybe an orange hue. Family/love/caring-pink roses: choose a soft pink and fade to white at the center with a touch of yellow.

I would make the leaves a hassuer/pine green or hunter with ochra highlights and a hint of red for dimension.

Then add shadows so it comes alive and jumps off the page. A double loaded brush and the one stroke method would give you the best result and least amount of work.

I paint in acrylics so that is what I based my answer on. Water colors would be a whole different ball park.

wheres the link??

paint it red with a gothic architecture behind (what i would do)

I don't think I would paint it any colour. I think it may look a bit tacky.
It looks very nice how it is now kind of John Lennon or Picasso sketch.
Just a nice big signature at the bottom.

That's quite a good drawing.

You need variations of the same colour for the petals. If you're going with pink, have one pink with a touch more red in it, another with a touch of yellow, another with white, blue, green, etc. The parts of the petals that are closest to the actual stem of the flower should be a bit darker .... actually, go and look at a rose. Then you'll see what I mean.

This is a good drawing, so I would just centre it in a sheet of paper and leave it simple, not put anything around it.

Light Blue to Dark Blue. Make it look likr light is holding in it's grasp.

Here is what I see- Pink and white flowers with sky blue in the backgound and a silvery-blueish humming bird about 2/3 of the way up on the left side.
