What are ancient roman wall paintings?

well they used to make frescoes on their walls, that is a process where you paint on a wet surface; many of them are still in existence; they also made pictures with mosaics, both on the walls and on the floors; either of these could have been in a public place or a private home. they had all kinds of scenes, home life, entertaining life, sports, animals, abstract patterns, architecture, whatever!

Not sure what you mean by what they are, there paintings. They are called Fresco's.

Well alot of early paintings on walls were a form of graffiti. They were normally related to politics and such. or of course there are the frescos. lol.
