How would you draw a spiral using a compass, ruler and pencil?

Question:-draw a center point
-put ruler on center point and measure out inches in each side (marking the paper you are working on)
-draw circles (using compass) starting from the center point and touching the notches opposite on the paper
-form into a spiral using pencil

you could do a golden spiral....

This looks good about the Fibonacci spiral, you do a sequence of squares counter clockwise enlarging according to the Golden Ratio, and bisect them with a semicircle drawn with a compass:
