When you analyze a painting, you have to look at every aspect of it.

Start with the simplest: What is the theme? Touch on the mythical figures he uses as opposed to the religious figures which were so common in paintings in the Renaissance....
Why was Botticelli painting this?
Color scheme
Texture
Relation of the figures to each other in the painting.
How much understanding does he have of the human body (i.e., how real does the body look?)
Talk about the characters in the painting.
Is it a part of a triptych, or are there any accompanying pieces that went with it?
What materials did he use?

That hopefully will help you get started.

I had a similar assignment last year. Renaissance paintings usually have mythological figures in them, which always have a story to them. So pick a painting that involves the mythological figures you know most about. You can talk about the story behind the painting and what makes the painting a renaissance painting. Talk about the colors, perspective, etc.

hi here are a few links with info.... analyze means...To examine methodically by separating into parts and studying their interrelations....or to examine; to break down into parts and study (as in a subject).... good luck xx
