1) Clean the board thorougly.
2) Cover the board with at least two, preferably three coats of gesso.
3) Once it is completely dry, sand the surface down with a power sander, then wipe the surface with a damp rag. It is ready after it dries. Or you can just buy spray paint gesso, but this is also a pain. You have to do it outside, and if wind comes by it will blow dirt / debris on the surface.

what the guy above said ,

and prime and seal the back of it or the board will warp

First of all you have to size the plywood with glue ( I do with rabbit glue) at list twice from both sides. When it dry attache cotton cloth or raw canvas to the plywood with same glue and let it dry thoroughly. After it dry apply gesso ground ( I do prepare it by my self and I can not say anything about ready acrylic gesso ) in 5 - 6 thin coats with allowing some time to dry in between.Do not overuse water to make gesso - it will crack later. Let it dry for one week. Than sand it with fine sandpaper to very smooth effect of eggshell. Now you plywood is ready. It kind of complicated process but it the best way to prepare plywood for oil painting.
