How do you re-size pictures so you can put it on your deviantart avatar?

Question:Its so weird. I did put it 50 x 50 but the size is still more than 15 KB and I can't put it up. I feel so stupid. Please help.

Photoshop. After adjusting the size reduce the resolution of the image too. Keep reducing the resolution until it's below 15 kb of size.
