are you talking about using the pallate knife(tool used for smearing on paint and creating texture) painting can seem difficult in the beginning because its all trial and error,if you get one of those canvas that you can hang straight on the wall you could play around with bold colours and texture building it up with the palete knife... you dont have to do a drawing yet but just explore the paint here are some examples of artists works that use paint as their expression.....

on the public tv channels they have some really informative shows on painting

Join your community art league and ask local artists how to get started...it might mean a few classes to get the basics.

Hi,

Acrylics are great for textured paintings because they dry quickly. I would suggest buying a few books, or going to the library for instruction books. This will take the guess work out of painting, supplies, etc... and you will progress quickly.

I would also suggest searching for "acrylic texture painting" or "impressionist paintings" for inspiration.

To see a professional painter selling his work on Ebay, "vitebskfineart" you can click below, go to his actual auctions and you can see him at work on the video on the auction page, this may give you ideas on how to paint.
