I use both, and create a mixture. It also entirely depends what I'm drawing.

pens....mostly blue or colored if I can...love purple pens!

both, I only use black pen though, it seems clearer to me in a way.

Pens - I hate pencils.

Both. The pencil is for the roughs, getting the guidelines in, then I go over it officially with pen.

I usually use a pen to write and a pencil to draw my patterns and write my instructions for my patterns. I sew and make my own patterns or modify the ones I buy.
