Is there software that can convert photographs to cartoons or caricatures?

Question:My daughter wants to create cartoon-like images from photographs. Then she wants to create stop-action animated films.
We already have good stop-action animation software, but she wants to convert the photographs to cartoon-like images before animating them.
Anyone know of reasonably priced software that can do this?

Well, a good software is the GIMP ... it's free, and comparable to photoshop. Just Google "The GIMP" & download.

You can get all kinds of effects in photoshop under the filters menu.
