Question:i have to do a Medieval project about it

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: i have to do a Medieval project about it

you should know that stained glass windows were mainly used in gothic churches. this is because the previouse romanesque churches had thick, heavy walls. this only allowed for small thin windows because if they were large the weight of the ceiling on the walls would cause the church/cathedral. now, with gothic churches came the developement of the flying buttresses, and outdoor support arch connected to a pillar... see: http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/j/Fl... well, these stronger, more reinforced walls allowed for larger, more intricate windows. for example, this is a photo of a rose window (Notre Dame). http://photo.bldesign.org/photos/europe/... most gothic cathedrals have rose windows. because of the flying buttress, gothic churches could soar to new heights... hoped my answer gave you some inpiration...

i saw them make stained glass once on how its made on the discovery channel, i know that they use different types of sand to make different colors and that lead was used to hold the panels together

It would help to state what it is you need to know about it, specifically. My girlfriend went to school for it, and she taught me, so we both know a bit.
