I need clever ideas! (art)?

Question:I've been told to make a painting on a canvas with the theme being about "harmony"
What symbols can i use based on Harmony?
Do you have any ideas? I really need help to get me started!

how can i link my work with the word "harmony" to make it all connect and produce a picture?
Any suggestions or even websites where i can get ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Harmony doesn't just have to be about peace and unity ie doves and people holding hands. It could just be about everything in your painting combining well. Or a harmony of elements, music nature...

Show this obvious bond between humans by painting two hands hand in hand.

Harmony, would be people and animals getting along black and white, gays and straights, snakes and mice, vampires and priests, cops and robbers, environmentalist and loggers, Christians and Muslims and so on....

Ok my first problem is dont I dont know what you like to paint but lets take a look from my perspective. First Im a writer and a terrible artist but first id break down the word to what it means let see:

Harmony
Agreement in feeling or opinion
A pleasing combination of elements in a whole

There is more but that will do for now. Lets see an agreement in feeling or opinion? A peace treaty?

Pleasing combination of elements in a whole?
Perhaps a family sitting down having dinner, A winter storm showing its elements, Ants working together over a picnic basket?

Think,of wat harmony means.Then try your best produce a picture that shows harmony but also your artistic mind. hope that helped.

use Nature. Flowers, clear skies, smiles... all in pastel colours. Use children as characters. And check out www.deviantart.com for good art examples - if u don't know the site already that is

Doves come to mind. In particular cupped hands holding a Dove all in the shape of a world.
I Remember entering essay comp when I was younger on Harmony, and this was the symbol the used.
I think it meant Hormony in the world between man and nature.

Harmony can be many things and there are good examples already. Harmony, in painting, can be a balance of color used, the harmony of line and composition.
With that in mind, you may wish to make a theme of people acting in harmony, using that balance of people, animals, trees, etc. [the quantity of persons/objects ] in your artwork.

Keep in mind what you have been learning in your class and go with that topic to create your own ideas of what you were taught. Best wishes!
