Position:Home>Visual Arts> Entry Level Photography Jobs In Atlanta?

Question:Im Applying To SCAD-Atlanta For The June Semester, But I Need A Recommendation Form From My Proffessor. The Thing Is He Won't Fill It Out, He Said My Photographs Were Excellent But I Missed A Couple Of Days And He Thought That Was Irresponsible. Anyway, I'm Deadset On Leaving Texas For Atlanta This Summer And I Don't Want To Get A Meaningless Job That Has Nothing To Do With Photography. Im Going To Earn Enough Money Before I Leave So I Don't Have To Worry About Money For A While. How Can I Get An Entry Level Photography Position? I Don't Know Where To Begin, And I'm Starting To Think This Move Is Not Going To Help. I Still Plan On Reapplying For The Fall Quarter So I Will Be Going To School. I Just Need Some Tips On How To Get A Photography Assistantship.

Hi. I live in Macon, Georgia and was having this go on as well.

My best advice is to look up portrait studios in the Atlanta area. Call them and let them know what you are doing and that you will be looking for a job with them as soon as you have moved. A lot of times places will work with you during you move and allow you to already be hired before you start the transition. It's a matter of the studio.

Try calling some and see what you can find out. But that's your best bet if you want to stay in photography as a job while in school.

Good luck!

Your professor should be able to give you some guidance even if he won't give you a reference or check out the ppa.com website, you have to be a member but it will be a good investment for you. The reason your prof won't recommend you is because putting his name behind you and it could look bad for him if you really are flaky. Let me tell you now, no professional photographer is going to put up with excuses and you being late.
