There is a particular name for the striped gradations behind the koi..

The technique is called Bokashi, meaning the fading of black to grey in Tebori tattooing. It certainly looks the same as what you showed..

i think it's called a koi fish?

It is called a "Koi Fish" You can google it, also go to miami ink's wbepage and they can tell you more.

well it suppose to be a koi fish in water, so its probably a river, or stream. Theres also waves.
