Position:Home>Visual Arts> Having headshots taken: Do I pay for "Packages" or "Sessions"

Question:I'm a bit confused. I'm thinking about having headshots taken sometime this summer, so I went to a photographer's website. It says there are sessions and then next to that, packages. For the "On The Town" session (just a random one I picked as an example) it costs $45, and tells me I'll be able to have pictures taken in parks and alleys in the city. And then package number three (again, just an example) tells me I get one 8x10, four 5x7, 42 wallets, and two poses for $170.

I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but what does this mean? Do I have to pay to have the pictures taken, and then pay to actually get the pictures, or what?

Thanks. =]

The session is the photographer's time with you.

The package is actually getting the printed pictures.

I hate how expensive those things are. ):

The session cost is what you are paying for the photographer's time and skill in creating the photos for you.

The package prices are for a tangible product, (the prints). Why do you expect a professional to work for free?
