Position:Home>Visual Arts> Programs for creating Magazine Designs and layouts?

Question:A group of my friends and I are making a Magazine for out college school project, and we have very little experience with graphic designing and photoshop. The magazine we are doing for our prpoject is actually something we want to continue after school and launch into a full publication. We need a program that is used for Magazine layouts and designs. We have a lot of computer experience and tons of ideas plus we have the graphics, we just need to know what program to buy so we can put it all together and print it out. So if you can tell me what program/s to buy, possibly a little bit on how to use them, how they weill help me and where to buy them that would be great.

The two that are "industry standard" are Quark Xpress and, more recently, Adobe InDesign. I've used both professionally. I honestly prefer InDesign. I think it's just easier to use and it integrates with other Adobe software (like Photoshop) more easily. You can get a free 30 day trial at http://www.adobe.com/ . If you want to buy the software, you can get either program discounted at gradware.com since you're a student. You can also visit your college bookstore and see what they've got.

InDesign is the best.
