Yes. Go to Google and type in "Henri Rousseau sketches". It says that there are at least 200 sketches that he did before 1895. However, he abandoned the procedure of sketching for canvas works and just went to painting "out of his head". You want a REAL puzzle... VALASQUEZ...the consummate Renaissance photorealist...left no sketches. What's up with THAT???
