Position:Home>Visual Arts> Hey its me i was just wondering how to turn crayons into paint..??????

Question:Melting won't really do the job, unless you're a very fast painter. You can mix them with 2 parts turpentine to 1 part linseed oil and get a paint fairly similar to oil paint with wax medium added. But it won't be as nice to use as actual paint.

Another approach would be to just dip them in solvent and draw with them, which intensifies the colour. Or you could make your drawing first and then paint over it with solvent/linseed oil to make colour washes.

If you try this please remember both turpentine and linseed oil are toxic, so work in a well-ventilated area. Good luck, enjoy!

Melt them down with a heat gun, add a little water.

melt them and paint very quickly

Melt them, keep them somewhere hot such as outside, or near a window. They'll melt and ta-da!!

try melting them

i would just melt them over low heat on a hot plate and a pot you can use for this. you'll have to keep the heat on while you paint. take the paper off though.

I would just buy paint and not bother .Heating up crayons might pose a health risk from the pigment. whoever said linseed oil is toxic has been sniffing the turps too long,I wouldn't drink it but linseed oil is not that bad turps on the other hand is poison.
