Position:Home>Visual Arts> Classes/Courses to be a Pro/Freelance Photographer?

Question:Well, I want to be a pro photographer, I know little about d/SLR's and I'm getting into them, and with time I expect to be somewhat quite professional, however, Wanting to do freelance photography I'm not going to have the best of luck without any courses/diplomas, which is why I need to go back to school/uni and get some courses. But I don't know any courses as such nor do I have any idea what I would need, Some friends told me about one course, however I don't have the reqs (Grade 12 English, Applied Maths).

Any Ideas? By the way I'm in edmonton canada.

A photography degree gets you the interview, your portfolio gets you the job. Its as simple as that. I've seen many professional photographers not even glance at a possible employee's portfolio if they didn't have some kind of degree.

I currently attend a private art school and my major is Digital Photography, which will be a Bachelor of Science... Some of my classes include all types of photography (nature, advertising, fashion, portraits, sport, event, ect), 5 levels of lighting, large format, history and survery, photographer's and business (how to do fiances), studio, ect.

There are tons of organizations that have workshops in photography. You don't need a diploma to become a professional.
