Position:Home>Visual Arts> Help with signature for paintings?

Question:my name is tammy janine russom. i have oil painted for some time now and to be honest-i hate my name. especially the way it looks signed on my painting. i would like to sign it and be proud of what it looks like and i've practiced signing it so many ways and still don't like it. i want to have it one way and stick with that, but cannot get past the way it looks. what can i do? i've written it using only my last name, only my first. i'm still not happy with the way it looks. any suggestions? thanks-don't get me wrong, i'm not into completely changing my name or anything. i just thought maybe i could come up with something creative with my own name.

I struggled with that very issue for years. What I discovered is that when I sign with paint I get one stroke per dip. So I dropped my last name and broke down "Jeffrey" into 12 marks that I can replicate with flamboyancy and style. Try to work as few marks as possible so as to make your signature, don't bother with how you sign with a pen on paper.

try signing it
"Tam J. Russ"

How about taking your T and connecting your J to the tail of it? Become TJ!

I like the first name and your middle name together. They are also hometown feel, but with a little modern thrown in .

Try signing with just your first two initials in small letters ... the t and the j are 'similar' but just different enough that you should be able to come up with some really interesting ways to make this your 'art signature' and stick with it.

wow your name is PERFECT for painting signatures!!!!! lol mine last name sounds like Trombone and looks horrible on paper...but that sounds almost roman or russian! try slanting it and making it thinner and longer. my friend is persian and her name looks beautiful when slanted and elongated. the name Janine as beautiful and wonderful for paintings! good luck on finding one!

how about trussom :)

I think you have to find a way to sign your paintings that pleases you....Continue to try ways to do it until you are satisfied.Have you tried your first name, your initial of the second and your third name?Only you can decide what you like....good luck!
