Position:Home>Visual Arts> Does anyone know to find cheap good quality swords?

Question:I guess this depends on what you mean by "cheap" --- what price range are you looking at & for what purpose is the sword going to be used for?? What type of sword are you seeking (rapier, long-sword, falchion, cutlass, small-sword, modern fencing sword (epee, foil, sabre), great sword, katana, chinese hook-sword, --- I could go on & on) ????

I've seen lots of swords used for various purposes... and lots of "sword shaped objects" sold for dirt cheap (like on e-bay and the Home Shopping Network). Yes, they're "real" -- but I wouldn't use those for anything more than sticking up on a wall.

A sword made for stage-combat would be different than one made for simple form-practice... as would a sword made for "live steel" combat.

I use my swords for "live-steel" combat where they will be coming into contact with metal with a fair amount of speed & force ... most of my blades I've paid roughly $200 or so for. I've got one that I've paid over $600 for.

Contact me off-site and I can send you some links.

At the sword store. What the hell do you need a real sword for? This is 2008, not 1008.

make your own it's pretty cheap and you can make them how you want them and if you do it right they will be RAZOR sharp

Why are you asking questions about swords in a Drawing & Illustration category?

REAL swords are hand made, they're priced $500 and up. Plenty of SCA folks make them. Do a search on SCA sword making and you'll start getting places to check out.

But considering they're something that takes a lot of time and effort to make, you're not going to find 'cheap'.

Cheap and 'quality' don't go together.
