Question:My newt is seventeen years old and still appears to be in the prime of his life. I really only took pictures of him when I got him when I was ten. I would like to get more detail than blurry black and red like back then, does anyone have any tips for taking pictures of amphibians?

A DSLR with a macro lens and a flash you can adjust the power on would be your best bet. You have to be very careful using a flash close-up with critters or people - the flash can cause eye damage if used improperly.

Or a DSLR, macro lens and a lot of ambient light - maybe near a window with sheers and then use a large piece of white cardboard to bounce some light on his shadow side. A couple of table lamps will help. Just be sure to set your white balance.

try n pan with the subject n alot of practice thats about all i can think of

-- Put your camera on a tripod or use flash

-- Use macro setting or a close-focusing lens

-- Choose an aperture of f11 or smaller
