What do you think of anime?

Question:I love anime and love to draw them. but is it just me and my friends that think tha anime guys are really hot.Or do do most girls think so. So what do you think, especially in cowboy beepbop (sorry if I spelt it wrong)???????

Anime is awesome! My personal favorite anime series is Neon Genesis Evangelion, and I ADORE Hayao Miyazaki's films. I know this doesn't address your other question, but oh well.

i have loads of friends who are just like you,but i personally find anime pretty boring..and the guys not hot.

I'm an older male who enjoys anime. My niece and her husband are also big fans.

Thing is, while I was born in 1955 that is BARELY old enough to be aware of what cartooning used to be like before the sixties changed everything. (one thing it actually did not change was the presence of anime in american society. I've discussed anime with haters who got offended when I called Speed Racer and Kimba the White Lion -- an inspiration for Disney's the Lion King I like better-- anime. They both most certainly were.

One thing about golden age comics is that you had realistic styles and you had bigfoot or humorous styles. And they were mixed in most cartoons and comics. In the sixties everybody got all uptight and if your strip was serious it was WAY serious. In anime you can see mixes in series like Yuyu Hashuko or Captain harlock -- where the crew is mostly drawn to bigfoot proportions.

Younger fans, I notice, aren't even aware of this distinction between Japanese and Modern American Cartooning -- unless they are Japanese.

As for the guys being hot, I have to say what I said about Manga and anime girls to a poor kid who wondered if he was perverse because he liked them so much. I've known several professional cartoonists. Through them I even met and talked to a couple of Japanese cartoonists. They try to draw leads they personally find attractive. This is not manipulation, but there is an analytical element to drawing and if they are any good you are seeing these people through their eyes. If you think they are hot you are paying a compliment to their creators' professionalism. Some people don't want to. That's their problem.
