My computer crashed and I lost all my photos?

Question:I had Norton anti virus and still got infected, I'm so upset. Anybody else have problems with Norton?

Norton in the past has given me nothing but heartache and viruses. In the past few years, though they have made remarkable improvements.
You should always manually update your virus files everytime you think about it even if it is on automatic update.
I have been using AVG Free for 4 years now, and have caught almost any virus that they come out with. It doesn't hurt to have some spyware on top of that as well.
Unless it was a worm virus, some of your photos can still be saved, though.
A good practice that every photographer knows is to get another hard drive just for your photos and important files.

Nope, did you have it updated? No anti-virus program is going to catch everything. I am now is the process of backing up all my photos onto disc and printing them out as time allows. As well has having them on line on sites like web shots, photo bucket or flickr.

No i dont use norton. I do store 2 copies of everything on CD's. Dont trust hard drives, I cant fiquire out why people have their image colloections on hard drives?

And, maybe the virus is too strong, just update Norton if it doesn't work, try another anti virus

Are you sure you lost your photos? A crash isn't necessarily a virus.
AVG is the best virus protection, but I have been using Norton 360 on a Vista OS with very good results.
CDs aren't as reliable for backups as hard drives. I would use a second hard drive and CD.

I've had Norton and my computer crashed 3 times . So i tried a different program called trend micro , which is the same price and it's not too great either . So save your stuff on cd's . The first time my computer crashed , i had a lot of pics saved in photobucket and flickr so i got some of my pics back .
