I want to start fashion designing?

Question:Hello Everybody,

I want to grow-up to become a fashion designer! The problem is I'm not very good in drawing the clothes on a sketch-book and I need a book to read and help me step-by-step instuctions. Also what type of supplies do I need Example: Colored pencils? Crayons? Pastels? What Type Of Book Do I Draw It In?

Do you sew yet? Try and learn all about sewing.
Most designers sew....and drawing people isn't as important as being able to draw your look ....fashion idea and future design. I know many friends that went to Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons school of design. Most of them could draw and were amazing at sewing....so practice, practice, practice. Also begin to research different kinds of fabric and research fashions throughout history....because you should be aware about how designers use the past and update it to the present, many times.

Also please look up a variety of designers and look up Fashion Week so you know what is hot this week and what is out! Good luck! I hope to see your name in NYC and Paris soon!

Doesn't matter. Just get a pre-drawn body form and design over. There are a lot of fashion designers who are terrible at drawing. You just need to make sure to get the exact design into visual form so others would understand what you see. Use whatever you are comfortable with as far as drawing utensils.

get this book called fabjob: how to become a fashion designer. go to fabjob.com. i want to become a designer too. u draw ur designs in a sketchbook or do them on the computer. also u can use any type of supplies that u want. Hope I Helped!!!!!!!!

Go to a fine arts or craft store and buy a simple sketch pad. Then, buy a set of quality colored pencils. (Prismacolors are the best) and then just draw and express your creativity.

i design clothes as a hobby, im working towards being a fashion designer, u dont have to be good a drawing just as long the ppl no wut ur designing, or u could always practice drawing learn to use a sewing machine and sew them too, i have a sewing machine but im not quite sure how to use it
