How do I make a kachina doll?

Question:I have to make a kachina doll for social studies and I have nothing to make it with. This is all I have. Play Doh,Straws. Not much. Noone will take me out to get something. Plus I have like no play doh HELP!

You must be a Hopi or Zuni to make a real Kachina Doll.

The pueblo Indian tribes make their Kachinas from a single piece of Cottonwood tree root. Everything...hair, feathers, clothing, etc is carved from the wood. It is a true sculpture.

(If you see a Kachina made with real cloth or feathers then it is a copy; most likely made by a member of the Navajo tribe. It does not have spiritual qualities at all, it is simply an object made for tourists.)
