i'm really advanced in graphic designing.
you can use photoshop and psp (paint shop pro), which are the best; but they do cost. there are free trials though.
for free programs, you could try photofiltre, gimp, etc etc.
do NOT use mytheme photo editors or things like that.
those are tacky websites.

Picassa is free to download and you can do a lot of things on it and also publish to the web if you want, make slideshows, albums etc. Crop, fix red ye, change to b + w or sepia ,soft focus, etc.

You can download adobe trials.. for example photshop.. they are 30 day trials.. i did this for a year just keep downloading them and then finally brought the product. It depends what you are using it for.. if long time i reccomend buying something which is worthwhile!

Gimp is a terrific free editing software, it's what I used before I got photoshop. You can download brushes, tutorials, etc and it has a great community behind it.

I use Photofiltre a lot, it's small and it's cheap.

You cannot tilt the picture by degrees - it has to be 90 or 180 or 270 - and it doesn't have the Layer thing, but it can do pretty much everything else. I use it all the time, and Photoshop only when I have to.

- Allows more than 1 photo open at a time.
