First of all you need to see him/her face to face to let the director know that you are no longer able to be in the production!. Explain the circumstances that are involved and express your regrets!. Meeting with the director in person to let them in on the bad news shows that you are responsible and mature!.

If you feel the need to send a letter after you have met face to face then do so!. Apologize once again and wish him success with the production!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Talk to the director as soon as possible to give them the most time to find someone to fill in!. Contact them by phone or in person - don't send a letter!. While it is harder to do, it is better for you and the director in both the short and the long run!.

Explain why you can't be in it honestly and apologize!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just be honest and tell him that you wanted to be in the play but there are some family problems that you're having to deal with at the moment!. also, tell him that you look forward to working in other productions with him!. And thank him for giving you a part in the play, that should lessen the blow!.

Hope I've helped! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
