Question: Any advice for my musical audition!?
I am auditioning for Beauty and the Beast in about 3 weeks, and I am auditioning for Belle, Chip, and Babette!. Because Belle is the main role I want, I have to sing "Home" from the musical!. Now, this is a very difficult song, and I'd like some advice!.

I am a mezzo-soprano/belter, and I don't know whether to sing it in high register for mainly the whole song, or belt the little parts like "what I'd give!.!.!.!." and "build higher walls around me!.!.!."!. My competition is mainly sopranos, and I thought that maybe by belting those parts but still using the piano dynamics and a little high register, I could be different than what they've heard!. But soprano may be what they want!.!.!.

also, any advice on a monolouge!. It should reflect the character(s) I'm auditioning for!. Chip, Belle, and Babette!? I'd love all three parts, and I don't want them to think that I really want Belle and just kinda want the other; I just want to make sure they consider me for Belle, but I'd love to be the other two as well!.

Should my monolouge have a French accent!? Only Babette has one, but I do it well!.!.!.!.

I also do a very adorable child's voice that sounds just like Chip!.!.!.any way I could tie that in!? I think that might help me get that role, and I'd love to play Chip, even though I'd obviously want Belle!.

Any advice on any other aspects of the audition are appreciated as well!.

Thanks! <3Www@QuestionHome@Com

In terms of the monologue, I wouldn't do one with a French accent!. As someone else mentioned, be sure they know you can do a French accent - put it on your resume if they're asking for it, or tell them in the audition if they aren't, but don't do your monologue in it!. Your monologue should be showing off your acting skills, not what you can do with an accent!. That said, perhaps try and find a monologue from the perspective of a kind of young girl (approx!. a middle age of the 3 characters), maybe something from Anne of Green Gables, or Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm!.
As for the singing, don't forget to act while you sing - that's another plus when they're trying to cast - it shows you've put some thought into it ahead of time!. One thing that sometimes helps is reading through the lyrics and think about certain lines you consider to be important - is the character looking inward, or outward!? Is she visualizing something in front of her, or is she imagining in her head!? If you get a mixture of both inward and outward moments in the song, it makes it more interesting to watch!. In terms of singing in your head voice vs!. belting, I don't know the song well enough to tell you for sure, but if you think it's a song that could be belted on some parts, I would do it, because people who can belt are good to have in leads!.

Ah!. Well yes you SHOULD belt!. I think you should do any monologue from Our Town!. Maybe joke around and be like "thank you" in your "chip voice", don't do the French accent but, put in on your resume that you can!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Remember the lines and words to songs!.
Be confident!.

I would say to not be high for all of the song, just the little parts, it gives more affect!. for Monologue, chip you want to be kinda more looking up to people, and act more childish!. babette, yes definitely use the french accent, and act more saucily!. belle, well to make you be considered for it, maybe give a light accent, you know give something different to the stage!. also for Belle, you want to act more graceful, and confidently discreet, almost exactly opposite of what babette would be acting like!. hope that helps and good luck with your audition!Www@QuestionHome@Com
