Question: How does the 'getting an agent' thing work!?
do you need acting experience or don't you!? and I mean signing with an agency in say LA or somewhere near there!. I have been given different answers, some say you need experience to be signed and others say you need an agent to get experience in the first place! I'm rather confused!.

thanks for your help!! :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

First get a list of all the agents in town!. Ross Reports will have that list!. Get yourself somne h3eadshots and wrie up your resume!. Call every agent ans ask if they are looking for new talent!. If they are, ask if you can come in and see them!. Then show up!.

Hopefully you have done some work, perhaps a school play or some acting classes somewhere!. While sometimes an agent may "see something" they like in an actor, experience helps!. It shows that you have done something, and that someone out there thought you were good enough to be in their production!. It also helps you learn how to be an actor!.

There are many "agencies" that will say "no experience needed!." If they then say that you have to pay them in advence or on a monthly basis or that you need to get pictures from this one specific photographer for $XXX, they are a scam!.

So if you want to get an agent, get some experience, get some photos, build your resume, and get on the ball!.

You can get experience by auditioning for local theater, school theater, taking acting classes, joining membership theater companies, and just making yourself available!. None of this requires an agent!. You can find audition notices on Craigslist, in papers like Backstage, and elsewhere!. Don;t bother with websites that make you pay to post your headshot and resume!. No one bothers looking for actors that way!. Be pro-active!. Look for casting notices yourself and don;t pass up any audition that calls for someone that could be you!. And take acting classes non-stop!.

When you are out there all the time, and have a great body of work, someday agents may be calling you!.

Good luck!

Well I dont think youre need any kind of experience but it surely helps!. Anything that goods for youre cv such as education, experience and contacts helps!.

One of the things youll need is a proffesional looking cv/resume map to sent to agents and Ill guess it for theese that acting experience helps you most!. If youll have any proffesional photos where you act you should definately put them into such map with describtions of were and when it was taken!. also headshots and full figure photos and maybe a video of you acting will help!.

Then its just a matter of getting a list of agents and start working on them!. See the above answers for good tips!.

BUT: It cant be enforced enough that agents that try to talk you into some sort of contract where you give them money every mounth or so SHOULD BE AVOIDED at any costs!. Theese arent serios and would be more interested in your money rather than getting you job!. Any serious agent takes a percentage of youre income instead!. Johan!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It helps to have experience to get a decent one to look at you!. And do say that you can act and aren't another type cast Lizzie Mcgwanna-be!. Truse, you can get someone without talent, but that means they are taking a chance on you, so besides a pretty face you need to have other talents!.!.!.!.acting, stage presence, not just 'bling bling'Www@QuestionHome@Com

You dont need experience!. You just need raw talent, either you have it or you dont!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
