Question: Paying for Casting Call information!?
I was on several website about casting calls, and one way or the other, it requires money!. Some you have to pay to register, some you get a free trial, but you have to put in credit card info, and some you can sign up for, you you have to pay to see the casting call information!. Basically, in order for me to know when, where, and how to audition ect, I have to pay!. Is it worth it!?!? And is there anywhere that IS actually FREE!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all without knowing in a strict sense what genre you want to focus on, I suggest Playbill!.com as a starting point!.

Anyone who asks for payment, or represents that it takes $$$ to get casting calls info!. is scamming!. Even a sleazy agent will only be able to legally take a % commission, AFTER the fact, and any agency that wants $$$ to put you in a convention center hall where there could be hundreds of booths relating to hiring talent, is less than ethical!.

You need to be using a newspaper, some notion of what you want in any outcome of any audition process, and as one answer states begin at a slow pace, or with local venues!. Most advertise open auditions for upcoming performances, perhaps as far out as one season ahead!.

The only $$$ you should have to spend could be for head shots, professional printing or compilation of a resume, travel expense to and from an audition, etc!.

As an actor, you are not only an artist, but you are also a BUSINESS!. As such, you will have to invest in yourself whether it be acting classes, head shots, casting call notices or gas to get to those auditions!. That does not mean you pay some agency like Barbizon or JPR, that is not how agencies work but reputable agencies and managers do use services like Breakdown Services for their actors!. It is not free and many professional actors subscribe to it on their own as well!.

As you are a beginner I would suggest you use Craigslist as well, there are many low budget film makers who use it to broadcast casting notices!. It is free!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

People want the easy way out !. Thats why the search for castings online, sry but your out of luck !. Get some classes, start doing community theater and then look for an agent !. It will be more difficult, but you have to start out small, sweat, and get rejected alot, before going somewhere !.Www@QuestionHome@Com
