Question: Miss Hannigan for the musical Annie!?
Okay, so for my school play we are doing Annie!. I want to try out for Miss Hannigan!. My audition song is "Tomorrow"!. At the audition I will have to do a cold reading of a scene!. Any advice on how to make Miss Hannigan shine!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off, do not bring props, or put on make up or fake a new york accent!. Directors don't care about that for a cold reading!. They just want to know if you can act and sing!. Don't over do it!. Be professional, even though it's a school play!.

When you sing Tomorrow, don't just stand there and sing!. Perform!. Directors look for that sort of thing!. They want someone who they know will make any part as good as they can!.

Finally, when auditioning for Miss Hannigan, keep in mind everything that Kate J said about her character!. Don't just act like her, BE her!. With everything said I wish you good luck and I hope my answer helped you out!. If you have anymore questions feel free to email me :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, start by NOT using Tomorrow for your audition!.!.!.great Idea if you want to play Annie, but if you want to be Miss Hannigan, do Little Girls, and REALLY ham it up! LISTEN to the words, what they are saying, and the subtext!. You should be able to do it!.

Miss Hannigan is a grumpy old maid, who probably, had she had the opportunity, would have fallen in love, married, and had plenty of lovely little girls, but there was no man to woo her, to give her the love she craves, so she has become bitter and angry, and rather than tranferring the love she would have given her own children to her orphans, she takes her anger out on them, ultimately treating them VERY poorly, partly because she is so underappreciated!. :) That's pretty cool!. I'm trying out for Miss Hannigan for my school play too, but I'm singing Easy Street!. When you're singing, give it a little New York Accent and make your voice a bit!.!.!.I don't know the word!.!.!.drunk!? I mean, give it some gruff and personality!. Her New York accent isn't too thick, like Regis', but still!. Put some of that in :)

But yeah, Hannigan is one of the characters that would be really fun to play, so I'm hoping to get that character as mine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you get to choose your audition song, you should definitely sing Easy Street!
also, if you haven't already, watch the movie, Carol Burnette does an incredible job with this character - try to act like her: sloppy, tired, selfish, belligerent, etc!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do something to stand out!.
Put on some bright red lipstick and fix your hair big (like Hannigan)
OVER DO it!. Hannigan is one of those characters that is so over the top and drunk all the time!. HAVE FUN with itWww@QuestionHome@Com

She is really grumpy and brash but at the same time deep down she still sort of cares about the kids!. So just try to be grumpy and rude but underneath show a little bit of kindness!. Hope this helps! Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Snappy, cranky, loud, eye-rolling

If you can do a New York accent, you got it!Www@QuestionHome@Com
