Position:Home>Theater & Acting> I'm auditioning for a part in my musical. Choice of song/ excerpt?

Question: I'm auditioning for a part in my musical!. Choice of song/ excerpt!?
There is a spring musical for my school, and for auditions, we are allowed to pick any song we want to sing, and any excerpt from anything to act out!.
Any ideas of choice of song or paragraph or so to monologue!? Please help! I was thinking 'Colors of the Wind', but I'm still not sure!. Anything is fine, just contribute what you think would be a good choice!. :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
try the song which iseasy for u but it should include range of the voice,!.
as u r a girl, i would reccomend u to try "spotlight" by jennifer hudson or "flaws and all" by beyonce!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

songs- colors of the wind is a safe bet
if its a comedic role, i highly suggest taking a bit out of the georgia nicolson series- Angus Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging!. it's hysterical, and already written in somewhat of a monologue senseWww@QuestionHome@Com

Still Hurting from The Last Five Years

The Beauty Is from The Light In The Piazza

Or even On My Own from Les Mis, if you want something more familiar

They're all fun :) well, to sing anyway
******EDIT

With a medium range voice I'd say go for Still Hurting!. Not too high, not low eitherWww@QuestionHome@Com

this might sound pretty lame to you if you don't like high school musical, but the songs in the movie are really great to sing for auditions!. Probably the reprise version of "What I've been looking for"Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you should sing Micheal Jackson Thriller!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Fly on the wall
Miley cyrus Www@QuestionHome@Com
