Question: Do you think I should try acting!?
Okay so I've been thinking it would probably be a good idea for me to get at least a year in of theatre!. I did a couple of church plays growing up but I was really young then!. I've kind of always had in the back of my mind that acting would be fun rather it be in plays, movies, whatever!. Every time i watch an old movie it always inspires me to try acting!. I'm home schooled so of course I couldn't do school plays but I was thinking of taking up a few acting courses and maybe doing community plays after that if i enjoy it!.!.!.just to see how i like it!. I think it would be fun to act for a living but I have a backup plan to become a nurse if it doesn't work out!. Do you think I should try taking classes somewhere and see if i enjoy it!? If you think you'll like it, try it!. Worst case scenario, you hate it!. Best case scenario, you like it and you're good at it!.
Acting classes are great, but only if you can get good instruction!. You don't say if you live near a big city, but I'd be wary of any acting "coach" that lacks experience, an MFA in acting, or a professional resume!. Finding a quality coach may take time, but it will be well worth your time and money!.
Don't give up on school theatre just because you are homeschooled!. Speak with the directors and ask if you can audition!. If you are talented, hardworking, and positive, they will want you in their production!.
As for acting for a living !.!.!. it's a great goal!. But give it a shot at the community level first!. You can always audition for a BA or BFA (or even an MFA eventually) program to further learn the ropes and gain some serious training!. But most college theatre programs are cesspools for dreamers!. Once you've moved to a city, the real work starts!. It's extremely difficult, extremely trying, and requires unparalleled self-discipline!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
