I agree!.!.!.why not both!? If you can read notes and can play one, then the other instrument is easy to slip in to!. I used to play the violin - so I realized this early on!. At least TRY them both!. Concentrate on the one you decide and then move to the other!. Make your pro and con list - ie!. cello, deep and brooding sounds!. If you still cannot decide which one to start with, flip a coin!. They are both incredible in their own rights!. Just don't do what I did!. My father played the trumpet and I sing, so I wanted to play an instrument that I could play and sing at the same time!. Huh!? Ok, guitar, piano, but the violin!? :-) EnjoyWww@QuestionHome@Com

The cello has a beautiful sound, but in an orchestra you will often have the bass part, which is not usually as exciting as playing the melody on a violin!.

The cello can be difficult and awkward to carry around, while the violin is much easier!.

I would go with the violin :)
But it's completely your choice!.

Why not play both!? If you have to choose, think about the physical aspect!. Hauling around a cello can be problematic sometimes!. A violin is more low maintenance!. But as a muscian, consider the sound of each instrument and which you like better, and to heck with the size!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would go with cello; in my opinion the deeper notes sound so much more beautiful than the other strings!. However violin you can play and use in many more ways, and on many different occasions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
