Question: What is the music written specifically for movies called!?

I'm doing some writing and my characters job is writing the music that goes in movies!. Typically the music written JUST for the movie!. Usually instrumental and in the backround during special scenes!.
Does anyone know the term for it!?

The first answer is not accurate!. The soundtrack involves the music, the sound effects, even the dialog in some cases!. The music specifically is referred to as the score!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
