Question: Why am I embarrassed in front of people while acting on stage!? I can't let loose!?
I'm great by myself acting- I can even cry without crying about anything!. But, when I'm in front of people I just worry about how I look and if I look stupid!. How do I stop caring and just act!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try to imagine yourself actually in the scene!. I know that people sometimes say things like imagine the audience in a funny situation but that can make you more aware of them!. If you are able to, imagine that they don't exist!. Imagine the scene in your mind!. This may sound stereotypical, but it's good advice: don't act the person, be the person!. Some people get that naturally but it can come with practice!. It helps if you're performing on a professional stage because the lighting will help you not to see the audience!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No one on the internet is going to be able to properly diagnose this problem, but perhaps I can give you some food for thought and you can discuss this with whomever you are working with currently!.

What is acting, to you!? Acting is being!. It's not about making faces and fake crying, it is about being in the moment and being real!. If you are too focused on others and what they think or anticipating, "Okay, uh, the script says cry but I'm not that sad, so I should just fake it like they do on Disney channel," (hypothetically, of course) that really sends out some red flags to me that you're not working hard enough!. It sounds like you don't know who you are portraying, what you are saying or why you are saying it!. When this happens, many people focus on pleasing the director or audience by doing what they think the character should be doing!. That means you're not doing your homework!.

Go home, open the script, and go over every single scene!. Make sure you have an objective for every single word that comes out of this character's mouth!. What is he or she saying!? Why are they saying it!? What do they have to gain!? What are they trying to accomplish!?

Dig further!. Who is this person!? Where and when were they born!? What do they look like!? Where did they go to school!? What did they have for breakfast!? Every and any minute question you can think of should be answered for every character you play!. This will help you become them instead of pretend them, as you!. Get what I'm saying!?

If you don't cry when the character needs to cry, then don't!. What is she feeling at that moment!? Etc!.

Think about this stuff!. It should help!. And also, a large part of it could be due to your age!. You sound rather young!. With time, these giggly butterflies go away!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
