Many people have told me that I'm talented at it, and I will anything in my power to succeed!. I can also sing well and dance fairly well!. However I was just wondering if training as a stunt artist would improve my chances of making it big!? If so how could I do so!? Thanks so much for your time x xWww@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Doesn't matter how talented people tell you that you are!. Unless they are casting a film and have the power to hire you it's meaningless!. Now if you will do anything in your power to succeed that is good because it will take every ounce of tenacity and perseverance that you can muster and even then, the odds of failure are great!. If you were to train as a stunt artist your odds of working in the film industry consistently would be 100 times greater than if you were just an actor!. HOWEVER, if you somehow think you will switch from being a stunt pro to an actor, stop right there!. Stunt coordinators SHUN stuntmen or women who have ulterior motives!. It is a very clannish profession and if they hire you, they want you focused on the job at hand 100%!. You show up on set, you keep your mouth shut and you do the work!. Period!. As a stunt professional you can make a great living for a limited amount of years, kind of like an athlete!. I know guys making from 75K to $300K a year but they are not actors!. It can take a long time to earn the trust and respect of a stunt coordinator, to get in with his or her group but once you're in and prove yourself reliable things are good!. If you decide that stunts are not for you and you want to be a straight up actor that's fine!. Opportunities will be severely limited as there are far more people competing to be working actors than working stunt pros!. Pick up some books on how to be a professional working actor!. Work in theatre and get noticed, particularly in California, where people are constantly searching for actors!. Unless you're lucky, and have someone on an inside job!. I've got a cousin that's working his way up in the line!. All I can say, and you've probably heard this before, is keep at it!. People love confidence, which I lack!. Hope to see you in the future, maybe!. ;) PS Write letters, watch movies, all kinds!. Read books, write books!. Anything that has to do with story telling, do it!. Act in front of a mirror!. I possess many impersonations so it makes the acting more fun and adds variety!. And act like a different person sometimes!.
