Question: I'm auditioning for pippin the musical!?
And I was wondering what would be a good character for me!.
I can sing!. i'm 14, i'm trying out for the high school play!. I'm asian, so i'm kind of scared that they won't choose me because of i don't look right for the part!. I've danced before, but i'm not incredibly experienced at it!.

there's:
a band of players: each sings, and plays a variety of roles, places, and objects!. The show's individual characters emerge from this band!.
(What is this!?!?)

I know for sure, i don't want to be the leading player!.
There's also fastrada: pippin's conniving stepmother!. What kind of role is she!? Does she dance a lot!?

Then beggar, peasant, noble, field marshall!.
Catherine: A widow!. An attractive, sharp woman!.

also we need to memorize a verse for the hymn!. In my folder she gave me, all i see that could be a hymn is 'lift every voice and sing'!. is that it!? I'm confused, because i looked it up, and its a african american song!. Why would she tell us to sing that!?

Thank you for your help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The band of players is the ensemble, basically!. They each play a variety of small roles, sing, and dance as a group!. A selection of them will play beggars, soldiers, etc!. They fill in all the extra parts!. The ensemble is very important in Pippin!. They are supposed to represent a band of players (aka a group of actors) traveling around and performing the show!.

Fastrada dances A LOT!. Probably more than anyone else in the play!. She's evil and was originally played by Chita Rivera, who is known for her fantastic dancing!. Fastrada is also kind of slutty!.

Catherine doesn't dance much at all!. She only appears in the second act, but she falls in love with Pippin!. She's a widow and has a small child!.

Have no idea what hymn you are talking about!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, my school did that a couple of years ago, and it kinda sucked!. It was hard to follow, but what I got out of it was that the lead player, who really had to be a great singer narrates the play and Pippin meets a lot of very sexy women and I cant really remember the rest!. Lots of akward dance moves and bad singing came from my school!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
