Question: What should i do!? Advice please!? !?
Right, im 14 and my parents think im super shy and quiet, but my ambition is really to be an actress, and i know i am good at acting!. Ive asked my mum to enroll me in the local youth theatre, but she doesnt care much and doesnt realise how much it means to me, even though ive sat down with her and explained it means everything my lifes worth to become and actress!.
I have a horrible middlesbrough (north east of england) accent aswell, that i cant seem to get rid of!. Should i juts wait a year and do A level drama when im in college!? Or should i take it upon myself to ring up the youth theatre!? I dont know what to do because its driving me insane as i am stuck in my house and in school all day and really want to act!!! I NEED to do it because every day i get more and more frustrated with myself because im not getting anywhere!. I need to go out there and do something big with my life!. Depending on what is involved in enrolling in this youth theatre - cost, parental consent, etc!. - I suggest going out there and doing what you love!. I get the feeling that maybe what your mom is waiting for is for you to take the lead!. The world isn't always going to hand you what you want - in fact, it rarely does!. If you want something, you go for it!. If you're passionate about something, you tell the world and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!.
I am a fellow theatregoer, and I understand what you are going through - I, myself, had do deal with it!. It's difficult to convince people, especially loved ones who might want you to do something else with your life, that you have in fact decided what you want to do with your life!. Heck, maybe you haven't yet; maybe you're still finding it!. Regardless, it is your right to explore your options! You're fourteen!
My suggestion: get out there and do your thing!. Take matters in to your own hands!. Show the world that this is what you want to do!.
Regarding the accent, I really don't think it's that much of a problem!. Perhaps explore other languages or accents, expand your vocabulary, that kind of thing!. If you're worried about casting, speech and accents rarely get in the way of it in Children's Theatre!. I wouldn't worry about it too much!.

If that's something you really want to do then you should do it !.

wow, that sounds kinda of how my mom was in high school, im really sorry!. the websitebelow has some really great monlogues, in my opinion!. maybe you could practice some of those to yourself or friends!? if you look online there are a lot of acting tips, and if you do a scene from a movie or a monologue you could record yourself on videocamera!? put iit on youtube for opinions even, if you're brave enough! (im not!.!.!. :) watching yourself makes you really critical, for everyone!. its a really good way to improve, by doing it over and over until you get it really good!. if your school has a drama club, DEFINATELY join that! i did, and i've gotten a lot of jobs and i go to an arts school for theatre now!. if anything at all comes up to audition for, do it! thats the best way to practice, if you can handle rejection (you have to to act though!) i would suggest signing up online for an audition site!. i know many that send you emails when there are auditions near you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
