How do they make children cry in movies or commercials?

Question: How do they make children cry in movies or commercials!?

I understand that once they reach a certain age, acting would come into it!. But say, a four-year-old!. And the crying is usually very believable!. How do they make the child cry without being cruel to him or her!? I've always been very curious about this!.!.!.does anyone know!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

my sister was a child actor for a film when she was 7 and they gave her drops in her eyes to make her cry!. After the first shoot she decided not to use the drops because they made her eyes sting!. The director just told her about a situation that was bad that had happened to him and it made her cry!. Many children are very believable as early as 2 or 3!.
I have seen parents tell their kid "show us how you look when you are very sad" and the kid starts crying!.
also in filming you have the advantage of cutting in and out of scenes!. Artificial tears are placed near the eyes during an out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
